NALCO-BARC release India’s 1st Bauxite CRM
NEW DELHI- The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has successfully developed a Bauxite Certified Reference Material (CRM) naming as BARC B1201 in joint collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). This is the first of its kind CRM in India and 5th in the World and is a step towards Make In India initiative of the GOI. The release of this CRM is a significant milestone in India's efforts to establish a robust and reliable testing infrastructure for bauxite, a crucial raw material for the aluminium industry.
Bauxite is a sedimentary rock that is the primary source of aluminium. It is an essential raw material for the aluminium industry, which is a key sector in India's economy. The quality of bauxite is critical to the quality of the aluminium produced, making accurate testing and analysis of the material crucial for the industry's success.
The release of the Bauxite CRM will help establish a reliable reference point for testing and analysis of bauxite. It will provide a benchmark against which laboratories and other testing facilities can compare their results, ensuring greater accuracy and consistency in testing.
The development of the Bauxite CRM is a collaborative effort between NALCO and BARC. NALCO, a public sector enterprise, is India's largest producer of alumina and aluminium, while BARC is India's premier nuclear research facility. The two organizations have been working together for several years to develop the CRM, which involved extensive testing and analysis of bauxite samples from different regions of India.
The Bauxite CRM has been certified by the National Centre for Certified Reference Materials (NCCRM), which is part of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) of India. The certification process involved rigorous testing and analysis to ensure that the CRM meets the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.
The release of the Bauxite CRM is expected to have a significant impact on the aluminium industry in India. It will help establish a reliable testing infrastructure that can support the industry's growth and development. It will also enable Indian companies to compete more effectively in the global market by ensuring the quality and consistency of their products.
In conclusion, the release of India's first Bauxite Certified Reference Material is a significant achievement for NALCO, BARC, and the Indian aluminium industry. The CRM will provide a benchmark for testing and analysis of bauxite, ensuring greater accuracy and consistency in testing. It is a prime example of India's commitment to establishing a robust and reliable testing infrastructure for critical raw materials, which is essential for the country's economic growth and development.
