NALCO celebrates its 41st Foundation day

Bhubaneshwar: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) celebrates its 41st Foundation Day, the 41 glorious years in the industry. The Occasion was attended by the Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Shri Pralhad Joshi as a chief guest. 

NALCO is Leading with exceptional performance for over 4 decades, also furthering the vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. 

Shri Pralhad Joshi planted a tree on the occasion of NALCO Foundation Day at NALCO Research & Technology Centre in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Emphasized sustainable and environment-friendly mining.


About NALCO
National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) is a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, a group ‘A’ CPSE, having integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal, and power, with a sales turnover of Rs. 8,426 crore in the financial year 2019-20. 

NALCO is one of the largest integrated Bauxite-Alumina-Aluminium- Power Complex in the Country. The Company has a 68.25 lakh TPA Bauxite Mine & 21.00 lakh TPA (normative capacity) Alumina Refinery located at Damanjodi in Koraput district of Odisha, and 4.60 lakh TPA Aluminium Smelter & 1200MW Captive Power Plant located at Angul, Odisha. 

It has bulk shipment facilities at Vizag port for the export of Alumina/Aluminium and import of caustic soda and also utilizes the facilities at Kolkata and Paradeep ports. The Company has registered sales offices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bangalore, and 9 operating stockyards at various locations in the Country to facilitate domestic marketing. The Company has successfully commissioned two wind power plants. A 50.4 MW wind power plant at Gandikota, Andhra Pradesh, and another of 47.6 MW wind power plant at Jaisalmer. 

NALCO is the first Public Sector Company in the country to venture into the international market in a big way with London Metal Exchange (LME) registration since May, 1989. 

The Company is one of the 1st CPSEs to have a CSR Policy since inception and is compliant to the norms of the Companies Act. It has spent around Rs. 39 crore towards CSR activities in the year 2019-2020. For the effective implementation of CSR activities, NALCO has set up a standalone Foundation in 2010.
