The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation's (NHPC) 2,000 MW Lower Subansiri hydroelectric project has lost Rs 1,075.97 crore due to flash floods. This project, located on the Subansiri River along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, has experienced several delays since its inception in 2005.
The most recent setback is attributed to severe flooding in the region. These flash floods caused significant damage to the project's infrastructure, including the dam and associated facilities, resulting in substantial financial losses and further postponing the project's completion.
NHPC officials have stated that efforts are underway to assess the full extent of the damage and implement the necessary repairs to resume construction activities.
