NLCIL celebrates 15th Public Sector Day

NLCIL celebrates 15th Public Sector Day

The 15th Public Sector Day was observed by NLCIL on April 10, 2024, at a function held at the lawns of its Corporate Office, Neyveli. Senior officials, Employees, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Engineers and Officers’ Associations, Welfare Associations and Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) participated in the event.  

The PSU flag and the NLCIL flag were hoisted by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD in the presence of Functional Directors Shri Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines), Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR) and Shri M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power).

The Public Sector Day is observed every year on 10th April, under the aegis of SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) - the apex professional body representing the Central Public Sector Enterprises(CPSEs), with the objective of creating awareness among the general public about the role and sustained contribution rendered by Central Public Sector Enterprises in scripting the ‘Growth Story’ of India.  

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, took pride in expressing the fact that the contribution of the Public Sector to the growth story of the country has gone up exponentially over the years.  He also said that from a mere 5 PSUs in the first five-year plan with an investment outlay of Rs.29 crores, the number of PSUs has now gone manifold to over 400 PSUs with an investment outlay of Rs.254 lakh crores.

He also mentioned with pride that the presence of PSUs is in all the core sectors like Coal, Oil, Power, Transport, Automobile and Steel. He also added that the PSUs contribute Rs. 4500 crores for the welfare of the society through their Corporate Social Responsibility schemes.  

CMD lauded the efforts of the NLCIL family for having achieved its excellence in all its performances in the just concluded FY 2023-24, and reposed faith & confidence that “Team NLCIL” would continue to strive further to take forward the Company on its growth trajectory.
