NLCIL celebrates 66th Raising Day

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the NLCIL flag by Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, at the Lignite Hall premises.

NLC India Limited celebrated its 66th Raising Day as Gratitude Day on 20th May 2022 with enthusiasm by recollecting the historical occasion of commencement of NLCIL’s Mining operations on 20th May 1957 and the services of the former employees of the company, who have toiled hard for the growth of the organization.

Former CMDs of NLCIL, Dr. M.P. Narayanan, Shri A.K. Sahay, Shri S. Jayaraman, Shri J.N. Prasanna Kumar and Dr. S.K. Acharya were the Chief Guests of the function. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the NLCIL flag by Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, at the Lignite Hall premises, Block-11, in the presence of former CMDs of the Company, Functional Directors of NLCIL Shri Shaji John, Shri Jaikumar Srinivasan, Shri K. Mohan Reddy, Shri Suresh Chandra Suman, Shri L. Chandra Sekar, IFS, CVO/NLCIL, Senior officials and employees of the company.

To mark the occasion, 10 senior most former employees were honoured by recalling their services rendered for the growth of the organization.

Former CMDs, while recalling their tenures in NLCIL, said that even in the days when the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility had not yet evolved, the company undertook several welfare measures for the benefit of the society at large, thereby gaining the respect and adoration of all stakeholders.

It was noted that the company which started off with Mining and Thermal Power generation had now diversified into Renewable Energy generation by establishing Solar and Wind projects. They said that it was proud to note that NLCIL is even contemplating foray into Hydro-power generation.  

Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD, NLCIL, in his address, thanked the employees of the Company, right from the workers in Mines and Thermal Power Plants to all the executives, for their steadfast contribution to the growth of the company. 

Lauding the employees of NLCIL for rising to the occasion whenever needed, he declared that the work force is capable of accomplishing any challenges. He thanked all former CMDs of the Company for accepting the invitation to take part in the function.

A large number of senior officials, employees, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, Associations and Welfare Associations attended the celebrations with great enthusiasm.

Shri N. Sadish Babu, Executive Director/HR welcomed the gathering and Shri C. Thiagaraju, CGM/HR proposed the vote of thanks.

Earlier, as part of the celebrations, the Unit Heads in Neyveli and outside projects hoisted the NLCIL flag in their respective units.
