New Delhi: NTPC Kanti is not only excelling in its commercial endeavors but is also actively contributing to the development of the region through its corporate social responsibility initiatives. This was highlighted by Project Head Shri Madhu S during a press conference held at NTPC Kanti on Wednesday.

Shri Madhu emphasized the exceptional production performance of NTPC Kanti, noting that the Kanti station stands as the top non-pit head station of Bihar, a source of pride for the organization. He shared that Unit 3 has achieved a remarkable record of 208 consecutive days of uninterrupted electricity production as of 31-10-2023, surpassing its previous best of 197 days. The Project Head underscored that operational efficiency is a hallmark of the Kanti station, which has already produced 2991.94 megawatts of electricity in the fiscal year 2023-24, meeting the MOU target. Additionally, achieving an increase in ash utilization from the standard 100% to 119% is a significant milestone for NTPC Kanti.

In terms of social welfare, Shri. Madhu highlighted NTPC Kanti's commitment to the community. The organization has conducted weekly medical camps in surrounding villages, benefiting nearly 3615 villagers to date. Recognizing the importance of modern education and digital skills, NTPC Kanti has launched a Girl Empowerment Campaign to empower 40 girls annually through residential training programs. Moreover, wellness initiatives have been introduced in local schools to promote student empowerment. NTPC Kanti has also initiated various training programs such as bakery training, papad-making, and pickle-making to foster women's empowerment and economic independence.

Shri. Madhu further announced that 30 students were sent for employment and skill development training at the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology in Hajipur, with potential placements expected next month.

NTPC Kanti has introduced several new initiatives this year to address social concerns and enhance community development efforts. The press conference was attended by Shri. Anand Banerjee, General Manager (Operations and Maintenance), Shri. Tapas Saha, General Manager (Maintenance), Shri. Mahesh Suthar, Additional General Manager (Human Resources), HR, CSR representatives, and employees from the Operations and Maintenance department.
