Numaligarh Refinery Limited achieved milestone

 

New Delhi: Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) achieved a significant milestone in its expansion project with the successful installation of the 60-meter-tall CDU Column. This massive 400 MT structure, one of the largest ODCs handled at the site, was efficiently assembled on-ground before being erected. The innovative approach of assembling the skirting, platforms, piping, and insulation around the column at ground level has set new benchmarks for efficiency and safety.

By executing major jobs such as 65 MT of platform and support installations, and approximately 4800 Inch Meter (IM) of piping work on the ground, the project team was able to significantly minimize activities at height, reducing risks and ensuring safer operations. This method also expedited sequential tasks, avoiding time-consuming scaffolding work post-erection.

The final installation was completed on 28th November 2024, using a 1600 MT Demag crane supported by a 600 MT trailing crane. NRL extends its heartfelt thanks to its valued stakeholders, including Managing PMC, M/s Technip, and the EPC agency, M/s Thyssenkrupp, for their contribution to this milestone achievement.
