Mumbai: India’s Energy Maharatna ONGC extended its support towards Assam Energy Institute to nurture world-class manpower in the broad field of petroleum technology and energy sector. This Assam centre of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is co-promoted by ONGC as an energy domain-specific institute.
Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Labour and Employment Shri Rameswar Teli inaugurated the newly-constructed Academic Block, Boys’ Hostel and Girls’ Hostel at Assam Energy Institute, Sivasagar in the august presence of Shri Arun Kumar Singh, Chairman & CEO, ONGC as Guest of Honour, Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, Managing Director, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Shri Aditya Vikram Yadav, District Commissioner, Sivasagar, Professor A.S.K. Sinha, Director, RGIPT, and Shri Rajesh Tiwary, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset on Monday (4 March 2024).

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology has been accorded the eminence of an institute of national importance akin to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). RGIPT is co-promoted as an energy domain-specific institute by six leading Oil Public Sector Units in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB).
