PM Modi Flags $500 Billion Energy Opportunity as India Moves Toward Independence
New Delhi: Global attention turned to India’s rapidly advancing journey towards energy independence as Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out a clear and ambitious roadmap for the country’s energy future, driven by policy reforms, infrastructure expansion, and global competitiveness.
Addressing global energy leaders, the Prime Minister said India is moving beyond the traditional goal of energy security and is now focused on achieving complete energy independence. He highlighted the creation of a strong domestic energy ecosystem capable of meeting local demand while positioning India as a cost-competitive exporter.
“India is developing an energy sector ecosystem that meets domestic needs. With affordable refining and efficient transportation, Indian energy exports will be globally competitive,” the Prime Minister said.
He underlined that India’s energy sector sits at the core of the nation’s growth ambitions and presents investment opportunities worth nearly $500 billion. Calling on global investors and companies, PM Modi urged them to Make in India, Innovate in India, Scale with India, and Invest in India, reinforcing India’s readiness to partner with the world.
The ongoing global energy dialogue in Goa is bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and investors to explore collaboration opportunities and shape the future of the energy transition.
