Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi reviewed NCL's performance
NCL contributes to 14.7% coal production of India and 10% to domestic power generation. He emphasised on achieving 133 MT coal production during the ongoing FY 2023-24.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi chaired a meeting in Varanasi to review the performance of Northern Coalfields Limited. NCL contributes to 14.7% coal production of India and 10% to domestic power generation. He emphasised on achieving 133 MT coal production during the ongoing FY 2023-24.
"Happy to see that Northern Coalfields Limited has achieved 105% coal production target and 102% coal offtake so far," he said.

Minister also took stock of the progress made towards rural electrification of Chitrangi Block, during the meet. In a Mega CSR initiative, NCL inked an MoU with MP East Discom, Jabalpur for the electrification of 10253 households of Chitrangi Block in Singrauli District with financial assistance of Rs 53.07 Crore. He further wished the company well in surpassing the annual target.

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) is a Miniratna Company of the Government of India and a subsidiary of the largest coal producer of the world-the Coal India Limited (CIL). NCL produces 15% of the total coal produced in the country and contributes 10% in the total electricity generation of the nation. The company, which is Headquartered in the Singrauli district of Madhya Pradesh, operates through its 10 highly mechanized opencast mines spread across the Singrauli and Sonebhadra districts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
NCL places a strong emphasis on safety in its mining operations. It adheres to strict safety standards and regularly conducts safety training programs for its employees. The company also embraces technology to improve its mining processes, including the use of advanced machinery, automation, and digital monitoring systems.
