The Maitree Express connecting Dhaka in Bangladesh to Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal resumed services on Sunday, May 29, 2022.
Railways resume train services between India & Bangladesh after 2 years
New Delhi: Railways resumes the two express train services (Maitree Express & Bandhan Express) between India-Bangladesh for the benefit of convenience of commuters of both countries.
The Maitree Express connecting Dhaka in Bangladesh to Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal resumed services on Sunday, May 29, 2022. With 165 passengers train departed from (Dhaka) Cantonment Railway Station to Kolkata.
Director-General of Bangladesh Railways Dhirendra Nath Majumder said from now on the train would run five days a week though it did not draw the expected number of passengers on the first day apparently because the COVID-19 situation was yet to be wiped out completely.
Another one, Bandhan Express runs two days a week runs between Bangladesh’s southwestern Khulna and Kolkata route reached Bangladesh.
