New Delhi, February 5, 2026: Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today flagged off a joint NIM–JIM&WS mountaineering expedition to Mt. Aconcagua (6,961 m), the highest peak in South America and the tallest mountain outside Asia, from South Block.

Commending the six-member team for their courage, grit, and leadership, Shri Singh expressed confidence that the expedition will successfully scale the formidable peak, bringing pride to the nation.

The expedition officially commences on February 6, 2026, aiming not only to conquer the summit but also to enhance mountaineering training for youth, Armed Forces personnel, and adventure enthusiasts. Officials highlighted that such initiatives showcase India’s growing presence in global mountain exploration and inspire the next generation of mountaineers.
