New Delhi, January 26, 2026: India marked its 77th Republic Day on Monday with a spectacular parade and cultural showcase at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, reflecting the nation’s military strength, democratic values and rich cultural diversity.

The celebrations began with President of India unfurling the national flag, followed by the 21-gun salute, symbolising the spirit of the Constitution that came into force on January 26, 1950.


Thousands Witness the Grand Republic Day Parade

Thousands of spectators gathered along Kartavya Path to witness the Republic Day Parade, while millions more watched the live telecast across the country and abroad. The audience included citizens from different states, school children, dignitaries, defence personnel and foreign guests.

Elaborate security arrangements were put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the national event.


Military Might and Marching Contingents on Display

The parade showcased India’s defence preparedness and operational capabilities, with marching contingents from the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and paramilitary forces drawing loud applause from the spectators.

Advanced weapon systems, indigenous defence platforms and modern military equipment rolled down Kartavya Path, highlighting India’s growing focus on self-reliance in defence manufacturing under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Cultural Tableaux Highlight India’s Diversity

Colourful tableaux representing different states, Union Territories and central ministries showcased India’s cultural heritage, development initiatives and social progress.

Themes ranging from women empowerment, digital innovation, sustainable development, heritage conservation and technological advancement were presented through vibrant performances, traditional costumes and creative storytelling.


Air Force Flypast Steals the Show

One of the major highlights of Republic Day 2026 was the Indian Air Force flypast, featuring fighter jets, transport aircraft and helicopters flying in precise formations over Kartavya Path, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The flypast symbolised the professionalism, preparedness and aerial dominance of the Indian Air Force.


Nationwide Celebrations and Tributes

Republic Day celebrations were also held across state capitals, district headquarters and educational institutions nationwide. Governors and Chief Ministers hoisted the national flag, while tributes were paid to freedom fighters and constitutional leaders.
