Supreme Court Dismisses SLP in Tarif Mohammad vs State of Uttarakhand
The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the Special Leave Petition (Crl.) No. 15827/2026 filed by Tarif Mohammad & Ors. against the State of Uttarakhand & Anr.
The matter arose from the impugned final judgment and order dated 28 July 2026 passed by the High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital in CRLR No. 824/2024.
A Bench comprising Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh heard the matter.
Order of the Court
The Court observed that it did not find any reason to interfere with the order passed by the High Court. Accordingly, the Special Leave Petition was dismissed.
However, the Court directed that the trial court shall decide the matter on merits, uninfluenced by any observations made by the High Court. The trial court has been asked to pass an order based upon the statements of witnesses and the material on record.
Pending applications, if any, were also disposed of.
