Tata steel and South East Railway partnered to construct sustainable rail infrastructure
Tata Steel and South Eastern Railway collaborated to construct sustainable rail infrastructure using its slag-based aggregates. The project implementation has been deliberately discussed by both officials of the SER and Tata Steel.
Tata Steel has set up an accelerated weathering facility for processing LD slag through steam aging in the rescue to transform steel slag into sustainable aggregates. The use of slag-based manufactured aggregates helps in the preservation of biodiversity by reducing the need for mining of natural aggregates and eliminates the requirement of transportation of aggregates across large distances.
