Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy Reviews Coal Mining Issues with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren

The Hon’ble Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren, and held extensive discussions on critical coal mining and rehabilitation-related matters affecting the state.

The meeting focused on several strategic and social dimensions of coal development, including the return of land after completion of mining operations, the Jharia Master Plan, compensation for government land, land acquisition processes, compensation and employment for raiyats (landowners), rehabilitation of displaced families, optimal utilization of CSR funds, and operational challenges impacting coal projects.

Both leaders emphasized the need for coordinated action between the Centre and the State to ensure sustainable mining practices, faster project execution, and equitable benefits for local communities.

The dialogue reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balancing energy security with social responsibility and regional development.
