USGBC list 2023 on green building certification, India ranks third
India is placed in third position in the US Green Building Council’s [USGBC] annual list of the top 10 countries and regions in the world for LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] certification in 2023.

India has maintained its position at third while China and Canada held the first and second positions, respectively. LEED is a green building rating system and the certifications are a globally recognized symbol of sustainable achievements and leadership. The annual rankings by USGBC highlight the significant progress made by countries and regions outside the US in adopting progressive and flexible building design, construction, and operations. While the US is not included in the list, it remains the world’s largest market for LEED.
Read Also : IndusInd Bank Q1 FY25 results, net profit at 2% YoYAs per the USGBC statement for India, 248 projects across both buildings and spaces were certified for LEED in the country covering 7.23 million Gross Square Metres [GSM]. Meanwhile, China has topped the rankings for 2023 with over 24 million GSM certified followed by Canada with 7.9 million GSM. In India, LEED is authorized by the Green Business Certification Inc [GBCI].
