Varanasi to Launch India’s First Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vessel on December 11, 2025
Varanasi will operate India’s first hydrogen fuel cell vessel from December 11, 2025, offering zero-emission travel, luxury seating, and improved ghat connectivity.

New Delhi/VARANASI: In a historic leap towards green energy, Varanasi is all set to become the first city in the country to operate a hydrogen fuel cell vessel in its waterways. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, will flag off the commercial operations of India’s first indigenous hydrogen vessel from Namo Ghat on December 11, 2025.
