New Delhi, 9 April 2026: The Tata Power Company Limited has announced a strategic collaboration with Databricks to build a future-ready enterprise data and AI platform aimed at accelerating the energy transition across its business operations.

The announcement was shared via a press release submitted to BSE Limited and National Stock Exchange of India Limited.

 

Enterprise-wide data and AI transformation

The partnership marks Tata Power’s enterprise-wide adoption of the Databricks platform to enhance operational efficiency, decision-making and digital innovation across its business clusters.

As the company expands renewable integration, smart grid capabilities and its B2C portfolio, the new platform will support:

  • Intelligent grid management
  • Advanced power planning and optimisation
  • Improved billing and collection efficiency
  • Accurate renewable energy forecasting
  • Operational excellence in solar manufacturing and rooftop businesses
  • A unified, single-view customer experience

The platform will process large-scale data in near real time, enabling advanced analytics and AI-driven decision-making across the organisation.

Introduction of AI assistant “Genie”

A major highlight of the transformation is the adoption of Genie, an AI agent from Databricks that allows employees to interact with enterprise data using natural language. The tool is designed to generate instant insights, dashboards and analytics, helping teams make faster and more informed decisions.

Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power, said the collaboration marks a milestone in building an intelligent energy ecosystem powered by data and AI. He emphasised that the initiative will strengthen digital capabilities, accelerate renewable integration and enable more customer-centric solutions.

From Databricks, Nick Eayrs highlighted the role of AI and analytics in creating resilient, data-driven energy systems, while Kamalkanth Tummala noted strong momentum for enterprise AI adoption in India.

Enabling self-service analytics and “talk-to-data” capabilities

Tata Power plans to consolidate enterprise data on the Databricks platform, enabling self-service analytics and democratisation of data across the organisation. The initiative will be supported by the company’s internal Centre of Excellence and strategic partner ecosystem.

 

Driving long-term sustainability goals

Tata Power, part of the Tata Group, has a diversified power portfolio of over 16 GW and aims to achieve Net Zero before 2045. The new AI-driven platform is expected to play a key role in optimising energy distribution, improving efficiency and supporting the transition to a more sustainable power ecosystem.
