PM Narendra Modi to launch projects worth over Rs 5,400 crore in Gujarat
According to officials, the projects would include urban development, energy, roads, and railways, reinforcing the government’s focus on infrastructure and connectivity.

Ahmedabad, 24 August 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on a two-day visit on August 25–26 and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 5,400 crore in Ahmedabad. According to officials, the projects would include urban development, energy, roads, and railways, reinforcing the government’s focus on infrastructure and connectivity.
The railway sector will have a significant impact related to the dedicated projects worth over Rs 1,400 crore. Costing over Rs 530 crore, the projects include the doubling of the 65-km Mahesana-Palanpur rail line and the gauge conversion of the 37-km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Road rail line and the 40-km Bechraji-Ranuj rail line, together worth over Rs 860 crore.

The project will boost connectivity, ensuring smoother and safer travel for commuters, tourists, and businesses, and strong integration of regional economic activities. Additionally, a passenger train service between Katosan Road and Sabarmati will improve access to religious destinations and stimulate grassroots economic activity. A car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji will strengthen logistics networks and boost industrial hubs, creating employment opportunities.
To enhance road connectivity and commuter safety, Modi will inaugurate the widening of the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road and lay the foundation stone for six-lane vehicle underpasses on the Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road and a railway overbridge on the Ahmedabad-Viramgam road. These projects aim to improve transport efficiency, ease traffic flow, and drive industrial growth in the region.

This would be implemented under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme to modernize the network, reduce power losses, and enhance reliability, minimizing outages during adverse weather and improving public safety.
The redevelopment of slums in Sector-3 of Ramapir No Tekro will take place as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), and there will also be the start of road widening projects on the Sardar Patel Ring Road around Ahmedabad, along with important projects to improve water and sewer management systems.
To enhance administrative efficiency, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a new Stamps and Registration Building in Ahmedabad West, aimed at improving citizen-centric services, and a State-Level Data Storage Centre in Gandhinagar to bolster secure data management and digital governance. Further, PM Modi will visit the Suzuki Motor plant in Hansalpur, Ahmedabad, to inaugurate the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes and flag off exports of Suzuki’s first global Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the “e VITARA,” to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan.
