February 03, 2026 | KGF : BEML Limited has commissioned a state-of-the-art robotic welding cell and a modern Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Axle Assembly Shop at its Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) manufacturing complex, further strengthening its advanced manufacturing capabilities and focus on operational excellence. The facilities were inaugurated by Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Limited, in the presence of Shri Sanjay Som, Director (Mining & Construction), Shri Yogananda G, Head – KGF Complex, and senior members of the management team.
As part of BEML’s ongoing modernisation programme, the robotic welding cell has been established to manufacture critical components for earthmoving dozers. The facility is equipped with advanced welding technologies, including pulse welding systems and laser-based sensing solutions, enabling higher productivity, consistent weld quality and reduced rework, thereby improving overall manufacturing efficiency.
The newly commissioned HMV Axle Assembly Shop, with an installed capacity of nine axles per day, features advanced infrastructure for axle assembly, sub-assembly and end-of-line testing. Designed in line with green manufacturing principles, the facility incorporates ergonomically engineered workstations to enhance workplace safety, efficiency and workforce well-being.
In parallel, BEML has operationalised a dedicated GEMBA area at the KGF complex, underscoring its commitment to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. The GEMBA workplace provides real-time visual insights into performance, operational issues and improvement actions, enabling faster decision-making, improved cross-functional communication and stronger employee engagement—driving sustained gains in productivity and quality.
These developments represent a significant milestone in BEML’s efforts to build future-ready manufacturing infrastructure aligned with global benchmarks, sustainability priorities and long-term growth objectives.
