BEML Says It Has Supplied Over 2,100 Metro Coaches Across India

New Delhi, June 16, 2026: State-owned BEML Ltd. has highlighted its contribution to India's rapidly expanding rail and urban mobility ecosystem, underscoring the company's role in supporting the country's infrastructure transformation over the past decade.

According to the company, India has witnessed significant growth in transportation infrastructure through projects such as the Chenab Bridge, the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, the Bharatmala Pariyojana, Dedicated Freight Corridors, railway electrification and the adoption of FASTag.

Aligned with these initiatives, BEML said its Rail & Metro manufacturing facility in Bengaluru has designed and supplied more than 2,100 indigenously manufactured metro coaches to major metro systems across the country.

The company stated that these deliveries account for over 50% of India's metro coach manufacturing.

Apart from metro rail projects, BEML is also contributing to the country's next-generation rolling stock programme through the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, India's first indigenously developed semi-high-speed sleeper train designed to operate at speeds of up to 180 kmph.

BEML said its efforts reflect the company's focus on delivering technologically advanced and sustainable mobility solutions aimed at strengthening India's transportation ecosystem.
