Mumbai, 27 February 2026: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) today bid farewell to two of its esteemed senior executives, marking the culmination of distinguished careers spanning nearly four decades in the energy sector.

Shri Abhai Raj Singh Bhandari – Executive Director, Mumbai Refinery

Shri Bhandari retires after a remarkable career characterized by technical excellence, strategic leadership, and unwavering commitment to BPCL’s growth. Joining BPCL following the amalgamation with Bharat Oman Refineries Limited, he brought extensive operational expertise that shaped the company’s refining landscape.

Throughout his tenure, Shri Bhandari played a pivotal role in the commissioning, stabilization, and expansion of major grassroots refineries across Bina, Kochi, and Mumbai. Under his stewardship, Mumbai Refinery achieved record crude throughput and successfully advanced critical future-ready projects, reinforcing its strategic importance in BPCL’s growth trajectory.

Renowned for his humility, technical depth, and people-centric leadership, Shri Bhandari leaves a lasting legacy of trust, mentorship, and operational excellence.

Shri Sundaravadhanan R. – Executive Leadership in Finance & Governance

Shri Sundaravadhanan retires after nearly 38 years of distinguished service marked by governance excellence, financial discipline, and process-driven leadership. Joining BPCL in 1988, he developed deep cross-functional expertise across finance, corporate functions, retail, company secretary responsibilities, and the Business Process Excellence Centre (BPEC).

His initiatives significantly strengthened institutional processes, including financial integration post-restructuring, digitization of permanent records under the Green Doc initiative, automation of customer and finance interfaces, and standardization of GST, payroll, and retirement benefit functions. His tenure at BPEC further enhanced governance, transparency, and technology-led efficiency across the organization.

Respected for clarity of thought, collaborative leadership, and unwavering integrity, Shri Sundaravadhanan leaves behind a legacy of institutional strengthening and disciplined execution.
