New Delhi, 18 June 2026: State-run Coal India Ltd (CIL) has signed a contract with BEML Ltd for the trial induction of indigenous 485 HP Wheel Dozers (BD46W-1), the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The move is aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imported mining equipment, in line with the government's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.

Coal India described the development as a significant step towards enhancing the use of indigenously developed equipment in mining operations.

BEML, a public sector engineering and manufacturing company, has developed the BD46W-1 wheel dozer with a 485 HP engine. The trial induction will enable assessment of the machine's performance in mining applications.
