Eastern Coalfield’s employees receive pending salary of around Rs 307 crore
Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Asansol facilitates disbursal of ₹307 crore pending salaries to 45,453 Eastern Coalfields Ltd employees within two days.

In a significant step towards protecting and securing the workers’ rights under the new Labour Codes, the office of the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) Asansol is taking strategic initiative in disbursing the salaries of Eastern Coalfields Ltd employees. Approximately, Rs 307 crore has been pending for the 45,453 employees and was disbursed following the interventions of Shri Ashutosh A.T. Pedenkar an IAS officer and Chief Labour Commissioner (Central).
This prompt intervention came following a complaint received on 09th December 2025 to the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central). With the help of entire coordination and cooperation aligning with the Ministry of Coal, the entire salary which was pending were disbursed on 11th December of Eastern Coalfields Ltd’s employees.
The action was taken successfully and grievances were resolved within two days, ensuring immediate relief for the workers. In any way, this demonstrates, the government’s efforts and commitment to ensure fast-grievances redressal and worker welfare.
