Strategic Importance in Defence Manufacturing

GSL plays a key role in delivering advanced maritime platforms to the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard, while also catering to friendly foreign nations. The Schedule ‘A’ status is expected to enhance the company’s organisational capacity and enable it to efficiently manage its expanding and increasingly complex operations.

The elevation further aligns with the Government’s broader vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

Strengthening India’s Maritime Aspirations

With enhanced financial and operational autonomy that accompanies Schedule ‘A’ classification, GSL is poised to accelerate its contribution towards India’s shipbuilding growth and maritime ambitions.

The company expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defence, the Department of Defence Production, and the Department of Public Enterprises for their continued guidance and support in enabling this milestone.

The upgradation represents not just recognition of past achievements but also a strong foundation for GSL’s future growth in India’s evolving defence and maritime landscape.
