Milind Torawane Resigns as Managing Director of Gujarat Gas Following Government Transfer
NEW DELHI/GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL), India's largest City Gas Distribution (CGD) company, has formally announced the resignation of its Managing Director, Shri Milind Torawane, IAS. The transition is part of a sweeping administrative reshuffle by the Government of Gujarat involving 26 senior IAS officers.
In a regulatory filing on Thursday, the company informed the stock exchanges (NSE and BSE) that Torawane's resignation was effective from the close of business hours on December 24, 2025.
Strategic Transition to the Education Department
Torawane, a 2000-batch IAS officer, has been a key figure in Gujarat’s energy sector, simultaneously holding leadership roles in the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) group. His departure follows a Government of Gujarat notification (No. AIS/35.2025/56/G) which designates him as the Principal Secretary to Government, Education Department (Primary & Secondary Education).
New Leadership: Smt. Avantika Singh Aulakh
To ensure continuity at the helm of the GSPC group, the state government has appointed Smt. Avantika Singh Aulakh, IAS (2003 batch), as the new Managing Director.

Aulakh previously served as the Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.

In addition to Gujarat Gas, she will also hold the additional charge of Managing Director for GSPC and GSPC LNG Limited until further orders.

Under Milind Torawane’s leadership, Gujarat Gas maintained its dominant market position, expanding its network to over 800 CNG stations and connecting millions of households. His tenure was marked by a focus on infrastructure scalability and strategic partnerships, including pioneering green hydrogen blending pilots.
Procedural Formalities
The Board of Directors of Gujarat Gas will meet in due course to complete the necessary formalities regarding the appointment of the new Managing Director.
