New Delhi, February 2026: In a significant milestone for public education infrastructure, the newly constructed CM Shri School at Sarojini Nagar was inaugurated on February 17, 2026, by Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Union Minister of Education. The ceremony was held in the august presence of Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi (GNCTD); Shri Ashish Sood, Hon'ble Minister for Home, Power, Urban Development, Education, Higher Education, Training & Technical Education, Govt. of GNCTD; and other dignitaries.

The event was also attended by Shri K. P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman & Managing Director, NBCC (India) Limited, along with senior officers of NBCC, who have executed this landmark project.

A Landmark in Educational Infrastructure

Constructed by NBCC, the state-of-the-art school stands as a symbol of the Government's unwavering commitment to delivering world-class educational infrastructure. Designed to accommodate approximately 1,800 students, the G+3 institutional building spreads over nearly 7,230 square metres (around 80,000 sq. ft.) and houses:

  • 60 spacious classrooms fostering an ideal learning environment

  • 6 modern laboratories for practical and experimental learning

  • A well-equipped library to encourage reading and research

  • Comprehensive student facilities ensuring holistic development

The campus has been thoughtfully designed to foster academic excellence while ensuring inclusivity and accessibility through barrier-free features and a 13-passenger lift, making it accessible for all students, including those with special needs.

Sustainability at its Core

Built in accordance with GRIHA 3-Star green building standards, the project reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and responsible development. Key eco-friendly features include:

  • Energy-efficient lighting systems

  • Low-flow plumbing fixtures

  • Provisions for solar-powered street lighting

  • Advanced water management systems for enhanced resource optimization

These features contribute to reduced environmental impact and operational efficiency, aligning the project with national sustainability goals.

Safety and holistic development have been central to the design philosophy. The school features:

  • A spacious assembly ground with an elevated stage for academic and cultural engagements

  • Secure window installations ensuring student safety

  • A well-planned layout promoting a safe and vibrant learning atmosphere

The infrastructure is future-ready, blending functionality with modern aesthetics to create an inspiring educational environment where students can learn, innovate, and thrive.

Part of Larger Redevelopment Vision

The CM Shri School forms an integral component of the larger redevelopment of Sarojini Nagar being undertaken by NBCC under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. This ambitious redevelopment project envisions:

  • Approximately 7,500 modern residential units

  • Over one million square feet of social infrastructure, including Schools, Barat Ghar, Aanganwari, Suvidha Market, etc.

In close proximity to the school, a Public Library, Sports Complex, and School of Excellence are also under development and will further strengthen the social ecosystem of the area. Upon completion, these facilities shall be handed over to the Department of Education, Government of Delhi.

Leadership Speak

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Union Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of quality educational infrastructure in shaping the nation's future. He lauded the collaborative efforts of the Government and NBCC in creating a world-class learning environment for students.

Smt. Rekha Gupta, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi, highlighted the government's commitment to providing accessible and quality education to every child. She noted that the CM Shri School would serve as a model for educational institutions across the capital.

Shri K. P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC, reiterated NBCC's dedication to nation-building through transformative infrastructure. "By creating modern, sustainable, and student-centric institutions, NBCC continues to play a pivotal role in shaping environments where the next generation can learn, innovate, and thrive," he stated.
