NHPC commissions full 300 MW Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan
The company confirmed that it received the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion on October 10, 2025, for the fifth and final phase of the plant, which had a remaining capacity of 85.72 MW.
BIKANER, October 11, 2025: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power company, has announced a major clean energy milestone, achieving the full operational readiness of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan.
The company confirmed that it received the Certificate of Successful Trial Run Completion on October 10, 2025, for the fifth and final phase of the plant, which had a remaining capacity of 85.72 MW. With this achievement, the entire 300 MW capacity is now ready for its Commercial Operation Date (COD).
The successful completion of the trial run marks the end of the project's construction and testing phase, positioning it to feed a substantial amount of renewable energy into the national grid.

The commencement of the 25-year PUA period and the official COD are now pending final regulatory clearances. NHPC is awaiting approval from the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) and formal consent from PSPCL, both of which are expected shortly.
The commissioning of the Karnisar Solar Project underscores NHPC's expanding footprint in the renewable energy sector and reinforces the national commitment to achieving ambitious clean energy targets. The project's full operational status represents a significant addition to India's solar power capacity, providing long-term, clean energy security to the state of Punjab.
