NTPC Commissions first part of 20 MW Gandhar Solar PV Project

New Delhi, August 23, 2022: India's largest energy conglomerate and Indian PSU on Monday declared the commissioning of the first part capacity of 10 MW out of 20 MW Gandhar Solar PV Project.

In a regulatory filing, the company said, Consequent upon successful commissioning, the first part capacity of 10 MW out of 20 MW Gandhar Solar PV Project at Gandhar, Gujarat, is declared on Commercial Operation w.e.f. 00:00 Hrs. of 23.08.2022. 

It further said, With this, the standalone installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 55099 MW, while the group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will become 69464 MW.

About 20MW Gandhar Solar PV Project

The 20 MW Gandhar Solar PV project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme Phase-II Tranche-I of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India (MNRE). The project is been won by NTPC through Viability Gap Funding (VGF) based competitive bidding done by SECI in 2019 and is being developed in through M/s BHEL under EPC mode inside the existing NTPC Jhanor-Gandhar Gas-based power station.

As per the conditions of the CPSU Scheme, the project employs domestic (Indian) PV Modules & Cells (as per the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) clause of the Scheme) and receives VGF from MNRE.
