ONGC Honors Shri Gopal Joshi on Superannuation
New Delhi: ONGC has paid tribute to Shri Gopal Joshi, Executive Director and Chief of Institute at the Keshava Deva Malaviya Institute of Petroleum Exploration (KDMIPE), on his superannuation after more than three decades of dedicated service to India’s energy exploration and knowledge ecosystem.
An M.Tech in Applied Geology, Shri Joshi joined ONGC in 1990 and built a distinguished career across Mumbai Offshore, Assam, Frontier Basins, the Exploration & Development Directorate, and the Office of Director (Exploration), gaining deep experience in both field operations and corporate exploration strategy.
He made major contributions in development geology, basin evaluation, frontier basin management, and exploration planning, helping shape ONGC’s long-term exploration priorities. As Basin Manager – Frontier Basins, he led complex geological programs and advanced understanding in challenging exploration regions.
Since June 2024, as Chief of Institute at KDMIPE, ONGC’s premier geoscience research institution, Shri Joshi focused on strengthening research, training, technology integration, and knowledge sharing, nurturing the next generation of geoscientists.
Widely respected for his technical expertise and calm, people-focused leadership, Shri Joshi leaves behind a legacy of scientific excellence, strategic vision, and institutional strength.
