RailTel’s ₹257.50-Crore Bihar Smart Classroom Project Cancelled
New delhi: RailTel Corporation of India Ltd on Tuesday informed stock exchanges that its ₹257.50 crore Smart Classroom project in Bihar has been cancelled by the Bihar Education Project Council (BEPC) due to unavoidable reasons.
The company said it had earlier, on September 8, 2025, received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the State Project Director, BEPC, for the procurement, supply and installation of Smart Classrooms at government secondary and senior secondary schools across Bihar. The estimated value of the project was ₹2,57,50,12,000.

However, in a regulatory filing dated January 13, 2026, RailTel confirmed that the work order has now been cancelled by the customer citing unavoidable circumstances.
The company did not provide details on the financial impact of the cancellation. Market participants believe such a large project cancellation could affect near-term revenue visibility and order book strength, although RailTel continues to focus on expanding its digital and telecom infrastructure business.
