New Delhi, December 2025: SJVN Limited, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, is reaffirming its role as a key leader in India's transition to affordable and sustainable power generation. Incorporated in 1988 as a joint venture between the Government of India (GOI) and the Government of Himachal Pradesh (GoHP), SJVN is now a publicly listed company, with the GOI maintaining a majority stake of 55%. The company's strong financial footing is highlighted by a paid-up capital of ₹3,929.80 crore and a robust net worth of ₹14,282.10 crore as of March 31, 2025.

 

Rapid Expansion and Ambitious Growth Targets

SJVN has transformed from a single-project entity, starting with the 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station, into an energy giant with a nationwide and international footprint. The company has commissioned 14 projects, achieving an installed capacity of 3,856.64 MW, and its operations span across numerous Indian states and neighboring Nepal. Looking ahead, SJVN has defined highly ambitious capacity targets: it aims to be a 25,000 MW company by 2030 and expand exponentially to a 50,000 MW company by 2040.

To support this vision, SJVN is managing a vast total project portfolio of 64,810.40 MW, which is rapidly progressing through various stages:

  • Operational Capacity: 3,856.64 MW.

  • Under Construction: 4,399.36 MW.

  • Pre-construction & S&I Stage: 24,127.40 MW.

  • Under Allotment: 32,427 MW capacity projects.
