Shimla, February 2026: SJVN Limited, a leading public sector power producer, has taken a significant step forward in the development of the 382 MW Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project. The company has entered into a Contract Agreement valued at ₹837.43 Crores with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for the project's crucial Electro-Mechanical (E&M) works.
The agreement was formalized in the presence of Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN. It was signed by Sh. Ravi Rajan, Executive Director (ECD), SJVN, and Sh. Ritu Raj, Sr. DGM, M/s BHEL, with senior officials from both organizations in attendance.

Project Progress & Significance:
Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma highlighted that the Civil and Hydro-Mechanical works for the project, awarded earlier in January 2023, are already progressing at full pace. The award of the E&M package to BHEL marks a major milestone in integrating all critical project components.
The Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project is a run-of-the-river scheme with diurnal storage, located across the Satluj River in the Shimla and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh. The project's dam-toe surface powerhouse is designed to generate approximately 1,381.77 million units of clean, renewable electricity annually upon commissioning.
