Supreme Court refused to stop construction work of DMRC Phase-IV

New Delhi: Supreme Court gave the views on Delhi Metro's Phase-IV construction work on Monday, April 17. The court said that it refused to stop construction work of Phase-IV of Delhi Metro. It is explained that, it will result in huge escalation of cost.

Accordingly the Phase-IV of Delhi Metro routes with 6 lines totaling 103.93 km within Delhi’s borders were finalized in July 2015. Aerocity to Tughlakabad, Inderlok to Indraprastha, Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block, Mukundpur to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram, and Rithala to Bawana and Narela.

The environmental concern were raised where the bench led by Justice BR Gavai said developmental work such as Metro rail is also a Major aspect which will cater to millions of people and reduce carbon emissions as the number of vehicles on road would be reduced, can’t be ignored.

It is also advised that Delhi metro should plan further construction works carefully in future.
