New Delhi: Shri Sat Pal Bhanoo, Managing Director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), will conclude his tenure on December 31, 2025, marking the end of a distinguished leadership term that began on July 19, 2023. Born on December 10, 1965, Shri Bhanoo brings with him more than three decades of extensive experience in the insurance industry.
Before assuming the role of Managing Director, Shri Bhanoo served as the Zonal Manager of LIC’s Central Zone in Bhopal, where he played a critical role in strengthening regional business performance. His career at LIC includes several senior leadership positions such as Senior Divisional Manager of Bangalore-I and Shimla Divisions, Regional Manager (Micro Insurance), Regional Manager (Corporate Communications), and Regional Manager (Personnel & Industrial Relations) for the Northern Zone in New Delhi. He has also served as Additional Director at the Zonal Training Centre, Bhopal, and as Chief (Marketing / Senior Business Associate) at LIC’s Central Office in Mumbai.
Shri Bhanoo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History (Honours) from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, and is widely regarded for his deep institutional knowledge, people-centric leadership approach and strategic contribution to LIC’s nationwide operations.
Alongside his executive responsibilities at LIC, Shri Bhanoo serves on the boards of several key institutions including LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation, National Insurance Academy, Life Insurance Corporation of Bangladesh Limited, Insurance Institute of India, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, IDBI Bank Limited, LIC Mutual Fund Trustee Private Limited, and LIC Cards Services Limited, reflecting his significant influence across India’s financial and corporate ecosystem.
During his tenure as Managing Director, Shri Bhanoo has been instrumental in reinforcing LIC’s market leadership, enhancing customer engagement, strengthening distribution networks, and improving internal governance and operational efficiency, aligning the organisation with the evolving dynamics of the Indian insurance sector.
