THDC India Issues Tender for Mega Risk Insurance Cover for Key Hydropower Projects
New Delhi, January 9, 2026: THDC India Limited has invited bids for providing mega risk insurance cover to its major hydropower assets, including Tehri Hydro Power Plant (4×250 MW), Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (4×250 MW) and Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project (4×100 MW), for a period of one year from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
The tender, published on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) under Bid No. GEM/2025/B/7053278, is being processed by the company’s NCR office in Ghaziabad under the Ministry of Power. The last date for submission of bids is January 29, 2026 at 3:00 PM, with the bids scheduled to be opened the same day at 3:30 PM.
According to the bid document, the procurement covers comprehensive asset insurance with mandatory reinsurance arrangements and single-premium payment mode, as per the Additional Terms and Conditions (ATC). The total value of assets to be insured is approximately ₹2,413 crore.
The tender allows purchase preference for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) in line with government procurement policy and includes provisions for reverse auction after technical evaluation. No Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) or Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) is required for participation.
Bidders are required to meet specified eligibility norms relating to solvency, experience in insurance services, claim settlement ratio and prior work with government and PSU clients. The insurance service provider must also comply with all applicable labour laws and regulatory requirements.
A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for January 19, 2026 at 12:00 PM, to be conducted online. The contract period will be for one year, and the bid validity shall remain for 120 days from the closing date.
THDC India said the insurance cover will help safeguard its critical hydroelectric infrastructure and ensure operational continuity of its flagship power projects.
