Central Railway records revenue figures of Rs 404.72 crore from Sale of Scrap for FY 2025-26
New Delhi Feb 23, 2026: In a major boost towards scrap maintenance, the Central Railway has reported significant revenue figures of Rs.404.72 crore from Sale of Scrap for FY 2025-26. The Central Railway has witnessed a strong commitment in order to achieve the “Zero Scrap Status”, a flagship mission aimed at converting scrap into valuable revenue-generating assets and ensuring efficient resource utilization. Central Railway as of 11th February 2026, has achieved Rs 404.72 Crore from scrap sales during FY 2025-26, registering a growth of approximately 2.81% over the scrap sale of Rs. 393.65 Crore achieved during the corresponding period up to February 2025 in the previous financial year 2024-25.
This significant achievement has been accomplished through systematic disposal of various categories of scrap and released materials, including:
1-Rail Permanent-Way Scrap: 40,177 MT
2-Sleepers: 2,55,318 Nos.
3-Ferrous Scrap: 25,790 MT
4-Non-Ferrous Scrap: 3,325 MT
5-Rolling Stock: 47 Locomotives, 70 Coaches & 110 Wagons
The CR Stores Department has undertaken intensive and well-coordinated drives to identify and dispose of scrap materials lying at remote and scattered locations such as Kurla Cutting Yard, Traction Machine Workshop (Nashik), Parel Workshop, Manmade Workshop, as well as across all five divisions of Central Railway.
These focused efforts have resulted in a remarkable surge in sales performance. Among the divisions, Bhusawal Division has emerged as the leading performer, recording the highest scrap sale of Rs. 97.72 Crore as on 11.02.2026.
The significant achievement by Central railway has shown its sustained commitment and resilience to accomplish the Zero Scrap Mission and promote financial prudence, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
