New Delhi: The Central Railway’s Mumbai Division has announced a series of major traffic and power blocks between December 7 and 10, 2025, to carry out pre–non-interlocking and non-interlocking works at the Lonavala–BVT yard. These works are part of a large-scale yard remodeling project that includes extending the R&D Up and Down lines and adding a new line in the Up yard of the Kalyan–Lonavala section.

According to officials, the main block on December 7, 2025, will be in effect from 2:15 AM to 6:15 PM, halting operations on all lines within the Lonavala–BVT yard. As a result, long-distance trains, express services, and Pune–Lonavala suburban trains will face cancellations, rescheduling, diversions, and short-origin/termination adjustments.

Impact on Mail & Express Trains – December 7

Several key trains scheduled to begin their journey on December 6 and 7 will remain cancelled, including the Intercity, Indrayani, Deccan, Pragati, Deccan Queen, and Sinhagad Express services between Pune and Mumbai.

Multiple trains will also be rescheduled. Notable among these are the Jodhpur–Hadapsar Express, Gwalior–Daund Superfast Express, New Konark Express, Solapur Vande Bharat Express, and the CSMT–Hyderabad Express.

Trains such as the Chennai–LTT Express, Thiruvananthapuram–CSMT Express, Miraj–Hazrat Nizamuddin Darshan Express, and LTT–Kakinada Port Express will be diverted via alternate routes with temporary halts at diverted stations.

Additionally, trains like the Jaipur–Yesvantpur Superfast Express and Bengaluru–CSMT Express will be regulated, causing extended delays. Several others will lose punctuality due to cascading effects of the block.

Impact on Pune–Lonavala Suburban Services – December 7

Local suburban operations will also witness major disruptions. The early-morning trains will be cancelled, while several services between Pune/Shivajinagar and Lonavala will either be short-terminated at Talegaon or originate from there instead of Lonavala.

Post-NI Blocks on December 8 and 10

Two additional blocks are scheduled:

  • December 8: 11:25 AM to 3:25 PM

  • December 10: 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM

These blocks will again affect both long-distance and suburban operations. Select express trains will be regulated, while suburban trains bound for Lonavala will terminate early at Talegaon, and return services will originate from there.

Appeal to Passengers

The Central Railway has urged passengers to stay updated about the temporary changes and cooperate with the administration, stating that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to support long-term infrastructure enhancement in the busy Mumbai–Pune rail corridor.
