New Delhi: Ensuring the safety of passengers continues to be the highest priority of Indian Railways. In line with this commitment, Indian Railways has consistently enhanced investments in safety-related works over the years.
As per budgetary provisions, the allocation for railway safety works has witnessed a significant increase. The budgetary outlay for safety stood at ₹39,463 crore in FY 2013–14, which has increased to ₹1,16,470 crore in FY 2025–26.
This nearly 2.9 times increase in safety-related expenditure reflects Indian Railways’ focused approach towards strengthening infrastructure, improving track and signaling systems, modernising assets, and reducing accidents.
The sustained enhancement in safety investment underlines the organisation’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail travel for millions of passengers across the country.
