Railways to operate 12,000 Special Train Services for Diwali and Chhath
The Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that around 12,000 special trains will be operated on the occasion of the Diwali and Chhath festivals.

New Delhi, 21 August 2025: The Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that around 12,000 special trains will be operated on the occasion of the Diwali and Chhath festivals.
This announcement comes after he held discussions with the Bihar NDA leaders. After discussion with state leaders, the Minister felt the travel needs of the people and worked out not only new trains but also several other schemes and infrastructure projects.
As many as four new Amrit Bharat trains would be launched to connect Delhi and Gaya, Saharsa and Amritsar, Chhapra and Delhi, and Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad for the convenience of general class passengers, as per the government.

The minister further explained that passengers travelling between October 13 and 26, with return journeys between November 17 and December 1, will get confirmed tickets along with a 20 percent discount on return fares under a new experimental scheme.
