RBI gave In-Principle approval to IRCTC payments Limited to operate as an Online Payment Aggregator

New Delhi: India's Central Bank and Regulatory body for the Indian banking system today, on 5th August 2025, has granted In-Principle’ authorization to IRCTC Payments Limited, a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of IRCTC, to operate as an Online Payment Aggregator under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.

Now this approval will add revenue for IRCTC by processing the payments and acting as an intermediary between merchants and customers.

Back in 2023, IRCTC faced a rejection by the RBI for the licence to provide payment aggregation services.
