South Central Railway achieves record freight loading of 12.36 million tonnes in April
The primary cause of the growth was a dramatic increase in cement and iron ore loading.

New Delhi: South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved the highest-ever freight loading for the last month, by recording 12.36 million tonnes (MTS) in April this year. This marks a significant increase from the previous record of 11.64 MTS set during the same period last year, showing over 6 per cent growth.
The primary cause of the growth was a dramatic increase in cement and iron ore loading. According to an official statement, cement loading increased by 18% from the previous year to 3.24 MTS, and iron ore loading increased by 39% to 0.765 MTS. With 6.100 MTS, coal continued to be the largest contributor, albeit marginally less than the previous year.

Positive performance was also demonstrated by other important commodities. Food grains reached 0.50 MTS, steel plant raw materials reached 0.43 MTS, and other goods reached 0.63 MTS. Fertiliser and container loadings, however, slightly decreased.
By streamlining waggon supply and keeping an eye on train movements, SCR has concentrated on enhancing freight services. The team's coordination was valued by general manager Arun Kumar Jain, particularly during ongoing infrastructure work and special train operations.
