HUDCO celebrates its 47 th Foundation Day
New Delhi. M Venkaiah Naidu, Minister of Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation, UD and I & B, inaugurated the function and addressed the gathering to commemorate the 47 th Foundation Day of HUDCO.
M Venkaiah Naidu congratulated HUDCO on completing 47 glorious years of service to the nation. Highlighting the significant role of HUDCO, the Minister urged the Organization to realize the vision of "Housing for All" - "Sabka Sapna, Ghar ho Apna".
Shri Naidu said that in the last 47 years, HUDCO had constructed 16 million residential units across the country and over 92 per cent of these dwelling units have benefited the economically weaker sections and low income groups. He further said that HUDCO has assisted in the construction of about 67 lakh, viable & low cost sanitation units.
The Minister gave away awards to the Best performing agencies, HUDCO Best Practices, Best Regional Offices, Long Services, HUDCO Design Awards etc. On the occasion, the Minister released HUDCO publications namely, HUDCO Darpan, Shelter, HUDCO Design Awards - 2016 and Sankalp.
Dr. Nandita Chatterjee, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation congratulated HUDCO on its 47th Annual Day and said that HUDCO must continue to play a proactive role in promoting sustainable habitats and also make intensive efforts in resolving defaults.
Shri K.V. Chowdhary, Chief Vigilance Commissioner present on the occasion, congratulated HUDCO on its foundation day and stressed the need for adopting standard operating procedures in all activities and highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability. Shri N.L. Manjoka, Director (Corporate Planning), HUDCO proposed the Vote of Thanks.CMD, HUDCO Dr M. Ravi Kanth and other senior officers of HUPA were also present on the occasion.The celebrations concluded with the cultural programme with participation of HUDCO employees.
