ONGC KVICSign Agreement For 108 cr Project for supply of products
MUMBAI.Khadi and village industry activity got a fillip when – in a first of its kind –the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) signed an agreement with the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) to supply it Rs 48 crores of products, besides also providing Rs 60 crores products to CRPF and SRP units attached to ONGC units
G Gopinath, Executive Director, ONGC, said that under the agreement, ONGC employees could buy KVIC products against their bonus provision from the 16 special exhibitions held 23 ONGC locations in different states during January and February 2017 and its 6,738 employees would benefit in this regard. With Rs 9,74,79,826.32 worth of sales in the KVIC-ONGC tie-up till February 14, 2017, the KVIC is eyeing at targeting other Government sectors in regard to such agreements that will benefit both sides, V K Saxena, Chairman, KVIC, told Millennium Post here on Thursday, adding that artisans attached to this agreement's special sales drive would be given an additional 5% benefit directly through their DBT accounts.
This agreement would provide employment of 6 lakh man days to Khadi artisans and captive marketing support to the Khadi institutions, he said while describing the tie-up as a 'win-win' situation for both KVIC and ONGC. Besides the tripartite benefit – sales to KVIC and value for money for employees and staff goodwill to ONGC – the agreement would present a unique model in assisting sustainable development of rural artisans and communities for increased productivity, more earnings and better quality of life, he said, adding that this scheme highlighted a model of socio-economic rewards for both producer and consumer alike while embodying Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas."
