SCI Ratna Sank due to ingress of water in the Engine Room
Mumbai: ‘SCI Ratna’ an Offshore Support Vessel owned by SCI sank 96 nautical miles off the coast of Mumbai on 21st Nov 2017 at about 1930 hrs. ‘SCI Ratna’ was employed with ONGC at Bombay High when the incident happened. All the 16 shipboard personnel who were on board the vessel have been rescued and are safe on board Greatship Prachi.
The probable reason of sinking of vessel is ingress of water in the engine room. The actual cause is yet to be ascertained and is being investigated.
All the concerned authorities viz, DG Shipping, Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Insurance, Offshore Defence Advisory Group (ODAG) of Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard have been informed.
