FSIB recommends Ravi Ranjan as MD of State Bank of India
Ranjan has over 33 years of banking experience, having started his career as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1991.

Shri Ravi Ranjan has been recommended for the position of MD in the State Bank of India. An autonomous body of the Government of India, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB), interviewed 9 candidates on September 11, 2025, for the position of Managing Director (MD) in the State Bank of India (SBI).
With this keeping in view the performance in the interface, their overall experience, and the extant parameters, the Bureau recommends Shri Ravi Ranjan for the position of MD in SBI.
Ranjan has over 33 years of banking experience, having started his career as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1991. He has held various positions both in India and overseas, across multiple functions. He has a master’s degree in business administration from MDI, Gurugram, and an M.Sc. in botany from Patna University.
