MD and CEO of Axis Bank talked about the problems going ahead in retail banking
New Delhi: The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Axis Bank Mr. Amitabh Chaudhry show the concern over the retail banking problem is going ahead of the wholesale. As he says retail banking already gone through a big crisis over the last four years.Retail banking is a thing which banks should have watch out, in comparison to wholesale retail banking is having a big crisis.
In conversation with RBI also Mr. Chaudhary said, “Our provisioning policy might continue to remain conservative if we move to restructure. Too early to comment on how much of it might go into restructuring. If you look at the initial criteria which RBI has laid down, we believe the amount which will qualify is not going to be very large.”
He added that the situation is still challenging from the period of COVID-19 pandemic, the growth rate is still down.
In the Max deal, he says, “As far as we are concerned, it is on track. We are waiting for approvals from the various regulators involved and as and when any information is there which needs to be shared with the public at large, we will share it.”
