ACC has approved the appointment of Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, IAS officer of the 1999 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Additional Secretary, Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, as Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India
New Delhi, 13 September 2025: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, IAS officer of the 1999 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, Additional Secretary, Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence, as Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
Sharma is an IAS officer of the 1999 batch from the Madhya Pradesh cadre and was born on 30/08/1973. He holds a B.E. from Delhi Technological University, an LL.B. from Jiwaji University Gwalior, and an M.E. from Delhi Technological University. Fluent in English and Hindi, he has served as Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
