Rajit Punhani (IAS) appointed as Chief Executive Officer of FSSAI
New Delhi, 22 August 2025:Shri Rajit Punhani, an IAS officer of the Bihar cadre of the 1991 batch and Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
He would replace Shri Ganji Kamala V. Rao, IAS (KL:90) (Retd.), upon completion of the term of re-employment of Shri Rao on 31.08.2025 by temporarily upgrading the post to Secretary level.
A seasoned civil servant of the 1991 batch (Bihar cadre), Shri Punhani brings with him a wealth of experience in governance, public policy, and institutional leadership. His vision and administrative acumen will be instrumental in further strengthening the Skill India Mission, empowering youth with industry-relevant skills, and driving the agenda of a Viksit Bharat@2047.
